Season May 1
The Putnam Boys' Club, the team in Putnam to play semi-professional baseball for a number of successive seasons, will hold its first tryouts of the season Sunday afternoon at the Putnam Recreation Park if the weather is favorable.
The club will hold these practice sessions every Sunday at the Park and will open their 1949 baseball season on May 1.
The club will play twilight and Sunday ball this coming season.
Joe DiVincenzo, who is doing his utmost to keep semi-pro baseball alive in the community, will again be manager, and Chet Dyrl will captain the team this season.
Any semi-pro player in the vicinity of Putnam is requested to attend these practice sessions.
There are no strictures as to age, creed, color or race. All will be welcome to try out for a berth on the club. Last season the club was under the name and sponsorship of Western Auto and was sponsored by G. R. Fontaine of the auto store.
