Full Text

Fish Culture on Wood River.
The artificial culture of trout and other fish has, wherever it has been engaged in, proved to be a profitable venture.
Dr. Johnson who has travelled extensively and noticed the success of the enterprise in other localities, has profited by his observations, and is devoting his time and means in that enterprise at his ranch, two miles below Ketchum.
The pond north of his house now contains thousands of trout from last spring's hatching. He has constructed a second pond below his house, of about two hundred feet square. The base of the dam is twenty feet in width. Willows are to be set out along the water's edge and the whole embankment is to be turfed.
In addition to the supply of water from the spring, an unlimited quantity can be taken from the river, for which purpose he is constructing a wing dam and flume. With no adverse circumstances, and at no distant day, Cold Spring Ranch will be a favorite place of resort.
