Severe Hail Storm.—The Orangeburg News
says: "On Saturday night last some portions of
our county were visited with the most terrific
hail storm ever remembered. On the place of
Mr. J. A. Wolfe, on Bull Swamp, it vented its
worst fury. Three showers during about thirty
minutes poured their furious missiles with appalling
force. The stones were seen in the road near
Jones's Bridge, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock,
where they had been drifted five inches deep. It
was the most terrible hail storm that has ever
visited these parts, and will long be remembered
with horror."
