Parnassian Spring.

MARCH.

MARCH was anciently dedicated
to Mars. When figured by painters
drawn in tawny, with a fierce
aspect, and a helmet on the head to show
to whom it is dedicated. Some of the
learned have thought this a good month
to marry in; whilst others have supposed
it much better to clear the stomach of its
load of bilious matter engendered during
the winter.

EVOLVING suns now looseth the res-
tor'd stream,
Earth to her bosom clips the fastening beam
The genial dews the teeming earth pervade,
And culture harvests fall beneath the spade:
While from their drowsy death the songs arise,
And warble gratulations to the skies.
