We have endeavored to keep up as to the La Salle municipal "war," but it is difficult to learn the truth. Neither of the local papers seems clear of prejudice and the local correspondents of the Chicago dailies are generally clear off, if we are to believe the local papers. However, the latest news from the seat of war is to the effect that the fight is over, and that a settlement has been had. A telegram announcing that on last Wednesday evening the Mayor signed and approved the report of the committee on claims; that is, signed the general pay roll. The old police force was also reinstated and an additional officer put on the force. How long this turtle-dove-ism will last is past finding out.
