Full Text

Invaders Arrested.

About 12 o'clock last night, just previous to the sailing of the steamer Oregon for San Francisco, U. S. Marshal Sinnott boarded her and arrested five Chinamen on a charge of introducing Chinese prostitutes into the United States.

Eleven women who were also aboard (being the persons complained of) were taken in charge to be held as witnesses. They were brought from Victoria on the last steamer, and their appearance and manner denote that they are a new importation from the celestial empire. This is the first case of this kind that has arisen here since the passage of the restriction law, and the result will be looked forward to with considerable interest. The women cost $11,000. - Standard, 15.
