Distressing Event, The following melancholy and truly distressing accident happened at Eastport (Maine) the 25th of February:--The family of Joseph Prince, Esq. were awakened, about midnight, by the alarm of Fire! which proceeded from their own dwelling-house. The flames had progressed so far before discovered that the elder part of the family had scarcely escaped, when the distressed father recollected his children, who slept in a bed room, two of which he had the good fortune to preserve; but returning to save two others who remained, he, as well as they, fell victims to the devouring element! The house which belonged to Mr. Ezekiel Prince, of this place, brother to the unfortunate sufferer, together with all its contents, was entirely consumed.--The late worthy man has left a widow and six children to lament the loss of an affectionate husband and kind parent.
