At the trial of the young incendiaries at Boston, last week, the court and jury were surprised by some of the evidence, of the very late hours and the habits of many small children. It appeared that boys under nine years were numerously employed in the bowling alleys scattered all over the city, to set up the pins in the evening, and after learning to smoke cigars, game, &c., were dismissed a little before midnight, and were found by the watchmen strolling the streets, and some of them scandalously fastened out by their parents. This lad obtained his matches at a dock near Fort Hill, where a hundred small boys congregate every day to go in swimming, and a very large proportion of them were daily seen smoking there, lighting their cigars with locofoco matches.
