Mother And Four Children Escape Injury In Crash

Mrs. Magalene Smith and her four children, 999 McClelland Avenue, Columbus, escaped injury when her car is thought to have gone out of control and slipped off the road about 1 of a mile west of State Route 38 on U. S. 40, Sunday afternoon.

According to Deputy Sheriff K. H. Johnson, who investigated the accident, Mrs. Smith was going east on U. S. Route 40 when her car is thought to have slipped off the road. The car struck a utility pole and broke it in three places. The front end of the car was badly damaged by the impact in an estimated amount of $150 and one of the children received a slight bump on the head.
