NEW-YORK, March 21.

A guilty conscience.—About twelve months since, several depredations were committed upon the mail, on the route between Philadelphia and Baltimore.—Letters have recently been received at Philadelphia, from Chester, stating that William Barton, an apprentice to the then postmaster at that place has acknowledged that he committed those depredations, and five hundred dollars have been recovered from him, which are put into the hands of W. Anderson, H. Miles & E. Darlington, three respectable citizens of Chester, to be returned to the rightful owner. The young man has made his escape.
