Full Text

For the Republican.

Mr. Printer,

DAY after day we have additional evidence of federal baseness, and depravity. That feverish symptom of lurking, low-lived malignity, which makes so great a part of its character, becomes every moment more and more obvious.

Such is the pitch to which their malevolence is wrought that it breaks forth on every occasion that affords any distant, pitiful prospect of gratifying its low-bred, dirty, and contemptible desires. The miserable shift to which some of the clan have lately descended of endorsing the names of certain persons upon the back of a brief which was handed about town by a drunken Lazar who was asking alms through the streets, doubtless with a view to disparage them in the light of their fellow-citizens is exactly of a piece with the general tenor of their ways, and strongly marks the ignominy to which they are prone.

Could the filthy scoundrel whose adventurous wight engaged him in the above mentioned truly federal enterprize be satisfactorily designated, he should be made to taste a few drops of the Oil of Juniper.

"In Rhode-Island they have offered a subscription for the Life of the present Governor, in which they intend to expose a profligate, daring and successful demagogue. Not being able to make a powerful opposition to his election, they intend by blasting his character to send him to Coventry, if they can."
