Thirty-Two Pupils Receive High School Diplomas From Dr. N. E. Sartorius ADDRESSED BY REV. FOX OF OCEAN GROVE
The graduation exercises of the Pocomoke High School took place Tuesday night in the Auditorium of the building on Market St.
The graduates were as follows: Academic-Norman Francis Allen, Jr., Virginia Leigh Carpenter, Florence Mae Crockett, Victor Alan Davis, Raymond C. Dryden, Jr., John Edwin DuBose, Charlotte Johnson Elmore, Winston W. Justice, Edward Wilfred Ross, Jr., Ralph P. Ross, Jr., Nancy Cecil Schoolfield, Winifred Crockett Talton, Alice Garden Venable, Laura Anne Wilkins. General-Garley Major Outten, John Frederick Powell, Clifton L. Shay, Earl Woodrow Stant, Kathryn Louise Stevens, Helen Marie Sturgis. Commercial-Ralph Virgil Ardis, Willis, Edward Boole, Jr., Joseph A. Cohen, Katharyn Ellen Dryden, Dorothy Elma Mills, Luther Glenmore Parsons, Jr., Elwood M. Pope, Eleanor Francis Redden, Grace Somers, Rachael Mae Sparrow, Ida Virginia Tarr, Lillian Mae Wilson.
The class flower was Yellow Rose, Class Colors, Green and Gold and the Class Motto, "Not at the Top but Climbing."
Music was furnished by the school band; the Invocation was made by Rev. J. A. Ditto and reading of the "Old Home Prize" by Miss Nancy Schoolfield. Prof. Verlin Krabill, principal of the school, awarded the medals and Dr. N. E. Sartorius, member of the County Board of Education, presented the diplomas. The benediction was pronounced by Dr. S. J. Venable.
The speaker of the evening was Rev. H. P. Fox, pastor of the M. E. Church at Ocean Grove, N. J., who based his address on his trip to Russia, stressing the fact that the people of the United States should be better satisfied with the good old U. S. A. and proud to be classed with Americans.
Worthy of mention is the fact that Raymond Dryden, Jr., led his class in the Academic Department with an average of 5 A's.
