Let's think of Sue. She is small with a large mouth and small eyes. Her hair is what we call a mousy shade, neither pretty nor curly. She has large feet and is inclined to be a little pigeon-toed. You are shocked to hear this description of Sue because you had never really noticed anything wrong with her. Whenever you met her all you ever thought of was how alive she was and how happy she seemed to be and how interested she was in you and what you had to say or do. You had never noticed her eyes except to notice how they lit up when she talked!
You noted too, that she always had a kind word to say of anyone who was being talked about and before the group knew it the subject had been changed, by Sue! You are beginning to see why Sue is so popular and has such a pleasing personality.
You are thinking how many times you had disappointed your own mother when she had asked you to do little chores for her and—you decided that you will improve your relations with your mother and so you go home, too. You decide to start right now improving your personality by beginning at home with your mother. You decide you do have responsibilities to yourself and to others. You have started to improve yourself and you will succeed!
It's the little things you do
In your happy-hearted way;
It's the kindliness you show
And the gracious things you say,
Your understanding friendliness
Your cheery humor, too
All are blended sweetly
In that little word call "you".
