We have the satisfaction to state, that Doctor John Saunders, who was attacked by three Ruffians at his house in Southampton county, on Tuesday, 3d April, and robbed, has recovered from the wounds he received on that occasion, and arrived here yesterday, for the purpose of identifying some persons who had been suspected, from a variety of circumstances, of being of the party that perpetrated that brutal outrage. Jonas Archer, who keeps a Sailor Boarding House in Little Water street, and Edward Hargill, who, we learn, has been for some time boarding at the said house, were brought before the Mayor, and examined in presence of Doctor Saunders. The Doctor immediately recognized Hargill as the person who knocked him down and tied him, but had no recollection of Archer as being connected with the assault made on him, except as an accessory before the fact, to establish which was produced to the Mayor, or the affidavit of a man by the name of Whitfield, now confined in Southampton jail, upon suspicion of having some participation in the affair. The Mayor committed both Archer and Hargill to prison, and issued an order to the Sergeant of the Borough, to proceed with them immediately to the county in which the offence was committed, there to be dealt with according to law.
