Attorney Ennis Feels Vindicated By Supreme Court

He Is Restored to Rights As a Lawyer by Decision Reversing Superior Court.

Attorney George H. Ennis who was recently disbarred for two years feels that he has been vindicated by the decision of the supreme court which finds error in the superior court's finding. The supreme court reverses the superior court's decision and Attorney Ennis is thereby privileged to practice law in this State again.

He was summoned in the superior court to show cause why he should not be disbarred after the grievance committee had heard charges preferred against him by Nellie Shuster,

Miss Shuster was injured while employed at the Warner Bros. plant. She was under age so Attorney Ennis had himself appointed as her guardian. He settled the suit against the company for $500 and retained $250 for himself, according to a previous agreement he claimed to have made with the girl.

She alleged before the grievance committee that the settlement was made without her consent.

In addition to the grievance committee's charges there was also Attorney Ennis' appeal from probate to be heard, but as the facts were practically the same in both cases, the supreme court found no error in the superior court's decision. As the girl's guardian the lawyer was required to report to the probate court regarding the settlement of the suit. Judge Nobbs ruled that one third of $500 was sufficient for the lawyer's fee and from this decision Attorney Ennis appealed. Since the trial in the superior court Attorney Ennis has been living in Ansonia.

Attorney John J. Phelan and Judge John W. Banks represented Attorney Ennis.
