SHELBURNE, (Nova-Scotia) July 21.

Extract of a letter from a gentleman at Beaver-Harbour to his friend in this town, dated July 15, 1785.

"We have had a confounded fire here about eight days ago, which has put every thing at a stand. The fire was so dreadful that it threatened, and nearly accomplished, the total ruin of the settlement. Twenty-one houses were destroyed, and a number of others damaged. Very few people escaped without losing something—nearly every garden in the place was ruined."
