Leavenworth Barber Charged With Violating the Law.
Leavenworth, Aug. 20.--J. A. Macy, proprietor of the barber shop at Seventh and Shawnee streets, was arrested Monday morning for violation of the Sunday closing law. It was alleged in the complaint that he entered his place of business Sunday and shaved four men.
Macy pleaded not guilty when arraigned in court and his trial was set for next Thursday. In the meantime, it is said, Macy will settle with the barbers' union, which filed the complaint against him conducting a business of this kind on Sunday is a fine not exceeding $25.
