Drivers who committed several serious traffic violations during the year will not be able to renew their licenses for 1961, police officials disclosed this week. A point system has been devised to guide the police in determining those who will be ineligible for a 1961 license.

A driver who was convicted of driving under the influence of liquor, reckless driving and speeding, for example, will have his application for a new license rejected. Parking offences are not considered. Some drivers, policemen said, have three or more convictions for serious traffic offences.

Last year about five drivers failed to get their licenses renewed as a result of a similar policy. S. T. Home Journal
