Clement Lemire, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation has been appointed to a one-year term as a member of the National Legislative Committee for the American Recreation Society it was announced recently from headquarters in Washington, D. C. by Jesse A. Reynolds, of Richmond, Virginia, Society President.
The American Recreation Society is the professional organization for recreation leaders and administrators of the nation, including Alaska and Hawaii. Its approximately 5,000 members provide recreation services for all levels of government, institutions, hospitals, industry. Armed Forces, colleges and universities, religious organizations, rural groups, and private voluntary agencies.
The Society functions largely through the Administrative Council which is composed of elected officers and representatives of the various state chapters, working committees and special interest sections.
The American Recreation Society is particularly concerned with improvement of personnel and recreation program standards; developing research; supporting good legislation, upgrading quality of recreation service; encouraging professional development, training and recruitment.
The national office of the American Recreation Society is located at 1120 Vermont Avenue, N.W., Washington 5, D.C.
