On Wednesday last the happy event of the cessation of hostilities, and the termination of the calamities and horrors of a long and bloody war, was celebrated at North-Hampton; when the Honorable President of the state was escorted by a number of the principal inhabitants into town, and on his arrival was received by the company of militia of the town, and saluted with thirteen cannon. At 1 o'clock the inhabitants together with a respectable number of gentlemen and ladies from other towns proceeded to the meeting-house, where an excellent discourse adapted to the occasion was delivered by the Rev. Mr. MacClintock; and the exercise concluded with several pieces of agreeable music: after which they repaired to the house of Mr. Leavitt, where an elegant entertainment was provided: at the close of which the following toasts were drank, accompanied with the discharge of thirteen cannon. The whole was conducted with great decorum and joy, and gladness appeared in every countenance.

May the Union & Independence of these American States be as lasting as time. 9. The President and State of New-Hampshire. 10. May a good constitution of government be speedily established in New-Hampshire. 11. Those illustrious foreigners who have distinguished themselves in the cause of America. 12. May the Inhabitants of these States experience the lasting benefit of a free trade with all nations. 13. May our Peace be as lasting as it is glorious.
