It Was a Cold Walk.

New York. Jan. 6.- An accident on the cable road of the Brooklyn bridge this morning caused over 1,000 persons on their way from Brooklyn to walk across the bridge in the biting cold.

It was 8:40 o'clock when a train of four cars started from Brooklyn on the north track. Half way up the incline there was a sudden jerk, and the train came to a standstill.

The cars were filled with passengers who were alarmed and rushed to the doors.

Nobody knew just what was the matter, but at last it was found that the main catching grip on one of the outer cars had broken.

Hence the icy cold walk of 1,000 people spoken of above.
