Niagara Ship Canal.

The governor of New York has approved of the bill passed by the Legislature, authorizing the construction of the Niagara ship canal, and it is to be hoped that the important work will be commenced and prosecuted as rapidly as possible. The law authorizes the capital stock, $5,000,000, to be divided up into $100 shares. The canal is to be constructed so as to allow vessels of at least 500 tons burthen to pass from lake Erie to lake Ontario, and is to commence at some point on the Niagara river above the falls, and terminate at some convenient point on the same stream.

Passengers are to be charged ten cents toll each, and the company is allowed to demand tolls on vessels, floats, &c.
