Full Text

The temper of the British Government, in relation to the dissensions in Canada, we are happy to perceive, from all indications, is the best that could be expected towards those who have taken part in the late revolt. The Earl of Durham, the new Governor General, is, it is said, a man of decision. But his powers, which are almost omnipotent, will be exercised with justice and moderation, if his own statement of what he considers to be his duty is to be received as an exposition of his intentions. It is with particular pleasure we learn that the Earl will come out with full power to grant a general Amnesty.—Nat. Int.
