BLOODY DEED OF AN IOWA FATHER

KILLED HIS TWO DAUGHTERS AND THEN KILLED HIMSELF

—NEIGHBORS GAZED ON AWFUL SIGHT WHEN THEY BROKE IN.

Des Moines, Ia., April 1.-Michael Nelson, a farmer near Poplar, Audubon county, today killed his two daughters aged 10 and 13 respectively, and committed suicide.

The murder was not discovered until late this afternoon, when the county officers, summoned by the neighbors, broke open the door of the home. The two girls were found in bed, each with a bullet hole through the head. They had apparently been murdered as they slept. On the floor lay the body of Nelson, his rifle at his feet. Nelson has long been suspected by the authorities of the murder of Francis Richardson, a wealthy money lender, who disappeared seven years ago, and whose body never has been recovered.
