TEWERS MAKES APPOINTMENTS OF FOUR MEN

A newcomer in Port Clinton civic bodies and three men who are veterans in public service are included in appointments announced today by Mayor-Elect George J. Tewers.

Mr. Tewers reappointed Carl Ruddock street commissioner and reappointed Walter Miller as fire chief. On the police pension board, he reappointed Att'y Oliver True for a two-year term and named Ray Lyons, 526 Washington St., to succeed Councilman-elect Ralph Forster.

Mr. Ruddock has been with the street department since 1929, and has served as street commissioner since 1938 when he was appointed to succeed his father-in-law, Martin Carstensen. Chief Miller has headed the fire department since he succeeded Stensen Petersen in 1948.

Mr. Lyons, named to his first civic appointment, is superintendent of the paint department at the U. S. Gypsum Co. A graduate in chemical engineering at Michigan State University, he came here seven and a half years ago. He is a vice president of the Lions Club, and an administrative officer in Toledo Air Reserves (active), as well as a member of the Methodist church.

On the police pension board are six members, two named by the mayor; two Council members, George Schade and Charles Ruddock currently serving; and two Fraternal Order of Police representatives, Captain William Robel and clerk Boyd Austin currently serving.

Retirement of desk officer Louis Dreier, scheduled for January, will be the first item to face the pension board.

Mr. Tewers asked Clerk Austin to call a meeting of the pension board in the near future and suggested regular monthly meetings be held.
