The Allan house, the Richmond home of the poet, Edgar Allan Poe, has been purchased for transformation into a hotel, to be kept by a woman at one time a leader of fashion in that city.
The dust of years has lodged upon everything in the room in which Poe wrote "The Raven." Cobwebs depend from the ceiling, and cling to the walls in picturesque festoons. It is an octagon-shaped apartment, with windows on either side of the fireplace, seeming to open into similar rooms. But there are mirror panes in the window sash, instead of transparent glass. The room is spacious, and papered in florid style.
