Alarming! The State Paper publishes what it terms a "secret" Circular, issued by the Whig State Committee. We hope every Van Buren paper in the State will print the same—it will tell their readers more truth than they usually find in the columns of the Administration papers. It is amusing to witness the affected noise of the State Paper—when its own party has for years organized themselves in a similar manner; and is, now, beyond much doubt, so organized for next fall. Our great fear is that the Whigs will not organize as they ought—that they will be too indifferent, and be as they were last fall, met by their opponents fully marshaled in every corner of the State. If the Whigs will but work half as much as the Van Buren party—will organize half as efficiently as their opponents—they will in so doing guarantee a Harrison majority of not less than six thousand in the State—inaugurate all the efforts of the Custom House clan against them.

If any body has a Circular of this kind—we say to them follow its directions—pour in a flood of light and truth where error has been propagated by the paid presses of the Administration—do it kindly and fairly, and thousands will see that they have been deceived, and will flock to the standard of Harrison and Reform.

Truth will work wonders. We have in our eye a case in point. A man in this County desirous of acting right, was the reader of one of the papers well paid for its services to the office holders, and of none other. By some means he was induced to read an independent truth telling print, and in a few weeks declared himself to be for Harrison and the Whig cause. While reading nothing but the V. B. subsidized paper he says he thought all was well—that the stories about extravagance—of corruption—of the destruction of the currency, and of oppression of the people—were "whig lies"—but he now sees that the Van Buren party have been in the majority in Congress, and in most of the State Legislatures—that we had ten years ago a good currency—and he thinks it right that those who have caused these evils should be held accountable for them. He is now ashamed that he permitted himself to be thus deceived by the Van Buren paper.
