A Meeting at Weldon Looking Toward Rearing This Memorial.

Weldon, N. C., Jan. 10.—A well attended meeting of those interested in the building of a Confederate monument here was held at Emry's Hall last night. Major T. L. Emry was called to the chair and there was music and prayer and speeches by Rev. P. N. Stainback, Capt. E. A. Thomas, Dr. O. R. Zollicoffer, Mr. J. S. Grant and Col. W. H. S. Burgwyn, each speaker being introduced by Solicitor Walter E. Daniels. Major Emry stated that committees on permanent organization for active work would be appointed, and that a bazaar would be held at an early day. General Ransom could not be present but he sent greetings and is with the movement heart and soul, and will help in every possible way. The ladies will begin work at once, and in a few weeks the matter will be well under way.
