NEW-YORK, July 4.

Yesterday the ship Chatham, Capt. Simmons, was wafted into port towards evening, in 62 days from London, and 49 from Portsmouth. We were favored with the Star, a ministerial paper, of May 15, received at Portsmouth on the day they sailed from thence, viz. May 16. This account states, that the king of Sardinia in consequence of the two defeats by the French, in which three of his principal fortresses surrendered to the victors, was under the necessity of sending one of his principal ministers to Paris to beg a Peace.
