The same Day the Governors of the Charter-House met in the Prince's Chamber, adjoining to the House of Peers, in order to make Choice of a new Governor, in the Room of the Lord Viscount Townshend, deceased: when the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Jekyll, Master of the Rolls, was unanimously elected in his Room. There were present the Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Chancellor, the Earl of Wilmington. President of the King's Council, the Dukes of Newcastle, Devonshire, Grafton, Chandos, Dorset, Earl of Scarborough, the Lord Harrington, and Nicholas Mann, Esq;
