A VETERAN.—The venerable Alexander Coffin, now in his ninety-second year, is in this city, on his way to Nantucket, the place of his birth, which he is visiting, in all human probability for the last time. His useful efforts in the cause of his country are well known, from the time of his correspondence previous to the revolution with the late President Adams, down to his having been called to preside at the republican state convention which nominated Mr. Adams in 1828. He has been a resident of Hudson since its foundation, and discharged various public duties with zeal and integrity. It is gratifying to see a few of these men of other days, yet hale and in good spirits, enjoying alike health of body and full possession of the mental faculties.—Com. Adv.
