El Centro building permits passed the $30,000 mark Saturday, according to statistics provided by the city engineer's office but the total was less than half the building activity on the same date one year ago.
Only four permits totalling $2375 were issued during the week, the largest of which was a $2000 permit issued to George Legakes for earthquake repair on a building located at 759 Main street.
Other permits issued included: W. A. Scheniman, 4th and Ross, $100, addition; H. K. McCracken, 420 Wensley, $75, store room construction; Shirley Deakin, 447 Len Rey, $200, repairs.
