Record Crowd To Attend Tent Meet In Minneapolis
Elder W. L. Battle, pastor of Gospel Temple, Church of God in Christ, at 247 North Grotto street in St. Paul, will conduct his first tent revival in Minneapolis Aug. 1 through 22 at Fourth Street and Fremont Avenue North.
The youthful pastor has been in charge of similar revival services in St. Paul for two successive years with remarkable success, drawing a "standing (Continued on Page 2)

"Standing room only" crowd during the entire sessions.
The tent being erected on the Fremont Avenue site will have a seating capacity of 300.
"The tent really should be larger to accommodate the crowds that attend these revivals," said Rev. Battle. "All we can do, however, is urge people to come early for good seats."
Elder Battle came to Minneapolis seven years ago and spent four years studying theology at NCBI, with post-graduate work at Northwestern Theological Seminary. While in school he worked with Elder J. C. Wiggins and cooperated in building St. Paul Church of God in Christ at 40th and 4th Avenue South where Elder Wiggins is pastor.
Later the revivalist went to St. Paul and conducted services in a store front. His first tent revival in that city enlarged the membership of Gospel Temple, making it necessary to purchase the present church on Grotto street. Last year's tent meeting increased the membership again.
"The revivals in St. Paul did wonders for that community. Many who were physically sick were healed. Those who were troubled found spiritual comfort," said the pastor.
"We know the Lord will bless us to bring the same benefits to Minneapolis," he said.
The Saturday meeting opens promptly at 9 a.m. with special services for children conducted by Mrs. W. L. Battle (wife of the Gospel Temple pastor) who is now a student at Northwestern School.
Missionary Addie Burress will be in charge of the prayer service from 12 noon on Saturday until 2 p.m., with evening services scheduled for 7:45 Saturday night and every night through August 22nd.
Complete time schedule of all the tent revival meetings will be listed in this newspaper as well as topics for discussion and names of visiting speakers.
Vocal and instrumental music will furnish inspiration for each service.
"I believe I have the message of the day for Christians," said the pastor. "For those who want to be saved - I have the message for you," he concluded.
Lewis Jenkins of Gospel Temple and John Vandevick of Calvary Temple (Soul's Harbor) will conduct the Youth Service every Saturday night and promise a full program of group singing, special films, music, and a "vital message geared to today's young people."
