Full Text

NEW YORK. February 8.

Extract of a letter from Baffetterre, January 2.

"We are informed from good authority, that an American privateer, manned and commanded by Americans, was to have sailed the 1st instant, from Guadaloupe, to cruise against the English. The crew of the above privateer got naturalized and admitted French citizens.

The example of the above privateer will, we apprehend, be followed by many American vessels in which case Great Britain has no alternative, and must of course declare war against the American States, or hang her subjects found in arms."
