THE ELECTRIC ROAD
Track Laying is Completed and the Roadbed Ready for Cars

The work of laying track through the streets for the electric road is completed, with the exception of the placing in position of the crossing of the Great Northern track at Ninth street. The work of stringing the wire which is to carry the current, was completed last evening and as soon as a dynamo can be secured it will be placed in position in the Bellingham Bay mill, power being taken from the engine already located there.

Cars built for the Spokane road are to be secured and used until such a time as the cars ordered built are ready for delivery, which will probably be about November 1.

This road is the finest on Puget sound and the only one to be laid with 56-pound steel rails.

Hopes are now entertained that everything will be in readiness to start the cars on the ninth of September, when the road will be opened for traffic and a regular ten-minute service established between the dock and the foot of the hill at the city line.
