Circumstances prevented Mr. Tazewell from going as Minister Resident.—Could he have been satisfied, that by a special Mission, he could have served his country by forming a valuable treaty with G. Britain, he might probably have gone in that capacity—but upon 'such a calculation as this, the principles of Mr. T., forbid his pocketing an Outfit and an Outfit at the public expense— more especially, as a resident minister of distinguished talents might effect such an arrangement.—We have a letter before us, speaking in the highest terms of the pure and honorable course, which has distinguished Mr. T. in this transaction.—Rich. Enq.
