ICE MACHINE PERILS HERE TO BE STUDIED

A subcommittee of the building code committee was named today to survey the automatic refrigerator situation in Milwaukee preparatory to drafting an amendment to the building code covering the insulation of multiple unit refrigeration devices in the city.

Gurda Is Chairman.

Building Inspector Leon M. Gurda was named chairman and T. R. Rose, an architect, was named vice chairman.

The action is the result of a preliminary survey made by Mr. Gurda following the death of several persons in Chicago from methyl chloride, a gaseous substance, used in refrigerating devices.

Urged By McNally.

Action such as is planned by the building code committee was advocated by Dr. William D. McNally, Chicago, in a meeting in the Milwaukee Auditorium last Tuesday night under the auspices of the National Association of Coroners.

Dr. McNally is a member of the faculty of Rush Medical college, University of Chicago, and former chemist and toxicologist to the coroner of Cook county.
