It is with much pleasure I learn that Mr. TIMOTHY PAxSON Is proposed as a suitable character for a member of the Common Council, in the place of the late Mr. George Pennock. I am the more gratified at this recommendation, as it proves that merit, however modest and retired, cannot long escape the public eye ; and, I am bold to say, few characters can be found that will so generally meet the approbation of the citizens at large, as this gentleman. His qualifications for the office cannot be doubted by those who have the least acquaintance with him, and his extraordinary services as a member of the Board of Health, during the fever of 1798, give him a strong claim to the gratitude of his fellow-citizens.
