The familiar voice of that "Ace of Alaskan Aces," Frank Dorbandt was heard in Seward Christmas night broadcasting Merry Christmas to one and all from station KFQD, Anchorage, "The Voice of the Golden North."
The writer was a little late in dialing into the Pacific International Airways of Alaska program but sufficiently so to hear Pilot Dorbandt at the "mike."
John P. Hannon, announcer, and his group of splendid artists put over a real show Friday night and dedication numbers followed each other continuously. Many Seward requests were telephoned to the Anchorage station and no sooner had the receiver been put back on the telephone hook when back came the dedication in answer to the request.
Many numbers were dedicated to Sewardites and others throughout the breadth of the Territory. At a Seward request a number was dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sogn, of Seward, who are spending Christmas in Anchorage. Another number was requested by Mrs. Frank Roycroft, of Moose Pass, for her son in Fairbanks; and still another number was dedicated to Johnnie Nelson, of Seward; all going to make up one of the most enjoyable programs heard from any station.
If Sewardites want to get a real "kick" some evening when listening in to Anchorage, give Announcer Hannon a long-distance phone call and hear him immediately acknowledge receipt of the call and then dedicate a number to you. Try it!
