NOT FOR
RICH MEN'S SONS.

Chicago University Official Says That Poor
Students Should Be Respected.

Chicago, March 1.-"There appears to
be a false impression abroad that the University
of Chicago is a school for the rich
alone. It is believed that the students
here are all rich men's sons," said Dr. C. A.
Thayer of the University at the chapel
exercises this morning.

Dr. Thayer admonished the students
to do their best to destroy what he declared
was a mistaken idea by treating the poorer
students with respect.

"College students should not look down
upon their poorer comrades," he said.

The attitude of some college men is to be
depolored. The men of this school should
be as democratic as those of any other
college.
