Charles Sheld Upped to Corporal

ATKINSON—Charles R. Sheld, whose wife, Marjorie, lives in Atkinson, recently was promoted to corporal while serving in Korea with the 45th infantry division.

Originally an Oklahoma national guard unit, the division is now filled with men from all parts of the United States. It arrived in Korea last December and captured "T-Bone" hill in June's see-saw hill battles.

Corporal Sheld, a section chief in the 171st field artillery battalion's battery C, arrived in Korea in December, 1951. Since entering the army in June, 1951, he has been awarded the United States service ribbon and the Korean service ribbon with one campaign star.
