Yesterday's South-Bound Coach Halted Between Boulder and Butte--
Treasure Box Captured.
[Special to the Herald.]
BUTTE, July 12th.--About 5:30 p. m., yesterday, as the stage was passing over the rocky road between the two saw mills on Bison creek, Estes, the driver, espied a man just ahead of him plant himself behind a large pine tree. George Hart and Al. Douglas were sitting upon the box, and when they arrived opposite where the man had placed himself, the man brought his gun to bear upon the driver and commanded him to stop. A slight movement among the willows on the right side of the road revealed a couple more men on their knees leveling double-barrelled shot-guns at them. They demanded the treasure box, which was thrown after some parley and threats of filling the driver with buck-shot. They picked it up and disappeared in the woods.
