Extract of a letter from Philadelphia, dated April 2, 1776.

"From the French islands we learn, that they have been hitherto prevented from getting supplies for us from Old France by British assurances that the quarrel was quickly to be made up; but, now that this is discovered to be all finesse, they say we may rely on speedy and large supplies from them.----The King's friends (as they are called) in parliament, have declared, that the plan is to subdue America before they even offer pardons, and then it is to be with such exceptions as they choose.---We learn that a pretty strong attack is intended to be made in Virginia this spring. It behoves you, therefore, to be prepared to meet the storm, with firmness and effect."
