Aug. 27. Private letters by the Holland mail vary much in relation to the news from Petersburg: some say, that Prince John is murdered in the castle where he had been long confined: that a party came to the guard of the Castle, and demanded his release. When the officer of the guard told them, that if they were determined to have him they must receive him dead. For his positive orders were, never to let him go out alive. But according to some letters, it is doubted whether there is the least truth in any part of this story.
