Indian Dances May 6

The Santa Fe Indian School will be the site of a program of Indian dances to be performed Saturday, May 6, at 8 p.m. The purpose of the dances is to raise money for scholarships.

The program is sponsored by the Drum Beat Club at New Mexico Highlands University at Las Vegas, to support scholarship funds to send Indians to Highlands.

Club members hope to make the dance program an annual event.

Dancers from Indian groups of all parts of the state will be present at the event, which is named the First Annual Daangho Indian Dances.

Dances will include the Parrot, Snowbird, Eagle, Pueblo Feather, Navajo Feather, Deer, Corn, War, Apache Crown, Hoop and Yei-be-chai. Many of the dances have never been danced at Santa Fe before.
