Full Text

The Crops IN OHIO--The editor of the Ohio Cultivator has recently visited ten counties in the northern section of that State, and four in the central and southern part, taking a look at the country and the crops. This excursion embraced within its limits most of the principle wheat region of Ohio, and the editor satisfied himself, by inquiry and inspection, that the wheat harvest was everywhere in his route quite as bad a failure as it had been represented in his columns. "Only in a few counties in the northern part of the State," he says, "is there anything like a fair yield; while in the great wheat districts the crop is very deficient in yield and quality, and many fields were not harvested at all. The corn crop, our greatest staple, everywhere gives glorious promise of an abundant yield, and the number of acres is we think greater than ever before."
