SCULTHORPE, Eng. (AP)- The U. S. air force's bomber command in Britain celebrated its first birthday yesterday with the announcement that 28 B-50 stratocruisers have arrived in England from their Tucson, Ariz., base.
In a year, the third air division has grown from a skeleton staff of specialists to embrace a supply depot, a major overhaul depot, three B-29 bases and a complete headquarters in London.
It was created to administer U. S. bomber groups sent to Britain on temporary training missions and to provide maintenance for Berlin airlift planes.
The planes from Tucson, all came. The 43rd bombardment group, are on a 90-day training mission.
