Full Text

Republicans of Maine,

The first Monday of April is at hand.--It is a day big with the fate of your country.--The importance of Massachusetts among the states is acknowledged by all--hence the solicitude of the friends of union that she should harmonize with her sister states, and with the general government.

The federal faction, driven from power in Vermont and Newhampshire, concentrate all their forces to array Massachusetts against the National government in favor of Britain--Will you relax your exertions to preserve internal tranquillity and the union of the States? or will you look calmly on till you see the sword of civil war unsheathed, and buried in the hearts of your parents, brothers, friends?

Remember the federal axiom:

"The civil authority have a right to make laws to bind men to worship all in one way, and IF NOT, THEN BURN!!!"

Such are the sentiments promulgated by the federal candidate for Lt. governor.--Ponder these things, fellowcitizens,--remember you act for posterity--do not then let them curse you when you lie low in the grave!
