At the White meetings recently held in Mecklenburg and Washington counties, in this State, Judge Philip Pendleton Barbour was nominated as Vice President. Avast, gentlemen! One Jackson-man at a time is as much as any Whig ought to be required to swallow—If, indeed, the friends of Judge Barbour are prepared to certify that he is, bona fide and unconditionally, Anti-Van Buren, and if they will be responsible that he will not back out at the eleventh hour we may, as a matter of necessity, digest him. But it will be a bitter pill.
