W. T. Powell, of Washington, business manager for the Kirwin Opera Company, is in the city. He says his company is the oldest, best known and popular organizations on the road and is one that ladies can see without hesitancy. He is greatly disappointed with our opera house. Mr. Powell says it is being beautified and refurbished on the interior and hopes to receive a liberal patronage from ladies on future occasions. Perfect order will be kept and every accommodation furnished.
The Wilbur-Kirwin Company carries a car load of costumes and scenery and is composed of 34 people. Mr. Holland has given it a guarantee for three nights the company will appear here. Mr. Powell is a gentleman and experienced theatrical man and will not misrepresent anything. We understand that several theater parties will be gotten up for Monday night's performance by the leading people of the city.
Sam Franklin is getting up a theater party of society people, both white and Jewish couples, to attend the Wilbur-Kirwin Opera Company, which will appear here for three nights, beginning December 18. Nineteen couples have already signed to go and others desiring to go should ring him up and he will secure seats for them.
